VISHRANTI BHAVAN is a center for the care of SICK & ELDERLY persons run by the "MEDICAL SISTERS OF ST. JOSEPH" (M.S.J.). This Congregation was canonically erected in 1946 with the charism of Compassionate love to reach out the suffering brothren and contribute towards total healing and wholeness. MSJs are committed to extend the Compassionate love of Jesus Christ through Hospitals, dispensaries, primary health centers, mobile clinics, centers for physically, mentally, and socially challenged people, para medical training centers etc. to establish the kingdom of God where they are.

Vishranti Bhavan - Brief History

The center got established on 18th March 1998 in Kozhikode district, Kerala. The urgency to address issues of paramount humanitarian importance prompted us to resolve care to old persons and treatment to ill and bedridden elderly patients.

AIMS & OBJECTS

To provide care to the aged who are abandoned.
To provide care to the physically challenged girls, provide job oriented training and rehabilitate them.
To provide hospice for terminally ill patients.
To provide geriatric services for the aged.
To conduct awareness programmes to women on health & hygiene, childcare and morality.
To extend any charitable help, to the deserving people as and when found necessary.
To associate with any charitable or voluntary agencies, students, and youth to carry out any project, which will be beneficial to the people.

A good number of elderly persons have sufficient income for their living but no relatives to take care of them in their old age and sickness. Another good number of old people have no income, no relatives to support and are living in a miserable state, being old and sick, mostly bedridden they are in good need of food, shelter, medical aid, loving care, emotional support and respect. These two groups of elderly are liable to get, serious psychological depression.

Our sisters are always living with them, eat, play and pray with them. The residents are provided with nutritious food, medical aid and other needs. We provide the facilities for relaxation and recreation, attends to their spiritual needs, and at the end, prepare them for a peaceful death. Thus they have a feeling of wanted ness, belongingness, self worth and dignity.

The Director of the institution is Sr. Cruz. M.S.J. had more than 15 years experience as an Administrator of Hospital, Home for Aged and other social activities. She is a Qualified Nurse with Diploma in coronary Care nursing, PG Diploma in hospital administration, and Diploma in Office Automation and computer application.

So far we have admitted more than hundred people in the Bhavan. Most of them got cured of their diseases due to our care and treatment. Some are gone to the eternity due to their severe old age illnesses.
